What does a Script Consultant DO?
A script consultant’s job is to encourage and nurture a writer. To get the best out of their writing, a writer wants to feel that their work and intention have been understood, and the consultant’s role is to help them, through constructive, practical advice, to make the changes necessary to improve the script.
A script consultant doesn’t criticise for the sake of it; my job is to point out what is working in a script, those aspects that show your talent and ability, and succeed in moving the reader – and which elements could do with further attention. Every script has strong points and weaker ones: I will encourage you to make the most of the strong ones, and to work on those that need some additional shoring up.
